Scott and I went to the Gotham Girls Roller Derby bout today to interview Beatrix Slaughter. Here’s a couple preview shot taken from my cell phone during warm-ups:

I went with Brian to interview NY1 political anchor and Inside City Hall host Dominic Carter. It is intimidating interviewing a person who interviews the Hilary Clinton’s, Bloomberg’s and Giuliani’s on live TV for a living, but Dominic was a gracious host and it was a great afternoon. Here’s a cell phone shot:

Deerhoof is in town for a few days for the premiere of Dedication for which they contributed a few songs.
Alvina Collardeau and I got to spend some time with them today. They’re from SanFran but they’ve been and played in New York countless times over the years. It’s great to hear about NY from the perspective of a traveling band. And just to hang out with Deerhoof too!

Alvina and I interviewed Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures today. Fred has been in New York over 20 years, shaping the tech industry along the way. He talked passionately about the city and his industry.

Big thank you to Nando and Alvina Collardeau.
I saw Beat The Devil open for Stellastar a couple months back, loved their music and had to track them down for OTI. I got a chance to interview them today, out in Greenpoint by their recording space.

Here’s an early performance from when they were resident at Piano’s.
I interviewed taxi driver Melissa Plaut today. We sat at a cafe and talked about her job and her favorite places in the city. Obviously she knows NY inside out, and she’s got some great recommendations!
That’s the best part of the job really, getting to know all these different New Yorkers.
